Plavac – an authentic expression of Plavac Mali from the southern slopes of the Pelješac Peninsula

Plavac Mali is a native Dalmatian grape variety and Croatia's best-known red wine grape. In our organically farmed vineyards on the steep terraces of the southern slopes of the Pelješac Peninsula, it produces wines of remarkable structure and distinctive character.

The wine is made with minimal intervention. Fermentation is spontaneous, using native yeasts, followed by more than two years of ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels. It then continues to mature in the bottle and is released only after approximately five years of total ageing. Unfiltered and with minimal sulphite additions, it preserves the wine's natural integrity and authentic expression.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-red colour with brick-red hues at the rim. The bouquet is shaped by ripe dark fruit and subtle herbal notes. Firm yet refined tannins lead to a long, persistent finish, while the wine's balance, elegance, and structure promise further bottle development, faithfully expressing the unique terroir from which it originates.

Our wines

Our wines reflect the place, the grape variety, and the time in which they are made. They develop slowly, through a natural approach and years of ageing.

A visit to the winery includes a guided tour of the cellar and an introduction to our approach to winemaking. This is followed by a tasting of our wines and olive oil in the very setting where they are created, overlooking the Pelješac landscape.

Philosophy

Our approach is rooted in respect for the vineyard and the natural course of winemaking. We believe that the character of each wine is shaped in the vine and the soil from which it comes.
